KIDS
Pee Wee Picasso
Students learn an appreciation for master artists like Picasso and Monet, as well as experience hands on learning with media like watercolor, oil pastels and modeling clay. A great beginner’s class!

Kids Drawing with Ms Bedoe
Students will learn about a variety of artists, while focusing on the
basics of drawing while include contour line drawing, value, and more.
Students will create a mini portfolio that will hold their projects and
artist bios. Students are encourage to come in to explore their creative
sides and enhance their drawing skills. Get ready for some FUN!
Libby Bedoe has an Art Education Degree from Western Illinois
University. She is a teacher at Sycamore High School and Middle School.
She has received various art scholarships for her ceramic, drawing, and
painting skills. Her teaching background encompasses a variety of medium
including ceramics, printmaking, photography, sculpture, painting, and
digital art. Her art work has a light, quirky quality that makes people
smile. She is also the Head Cross Country Coach and a track coach at
Sycamore High School.

Messy Fun
This is an unbelievably fun class, make sure you child wears old clothing for this one as they will become messy with goopy, gushy, goey, slippery and sloppy with art explorations.

Kids Pottery
Pinch pots, coil, slab, are some of the things you will learn. We will make many fun things. We will paint some of our projects in cool ways and glaze others for a good all around experience in pottery.

Haggerty Pottery Field Trip* on Friday August 1st in Carpentersville to see the giant kiln and learn many things about the process of ceramics
(*Extra cost may be involved in going on our field trip. If we use volunteer parents for driving instead of a Vac bus that will keep our cost low to nothing)

Cartooning
You can learn the basics of cartooning, or take your cartoon art further. Cartooning is an excellent way to learn drawing techniques and fundamental with out even knowing you are!
ages 9 & up

Teen Illustration with Ms. Bedoe
Teens learn about some of the lesser known sides of drawings. Get
excited while we explore the cubists, surrealist, and Art Nouveau
movements. Students will explore gesture drawing, blind contours and
many other aspects of the drawing realm. This is a great class for
beginners or advance students. Come and explore a newer side of ART!
ages 12 and up

Taxidermy with Mr. Martin
Learn the Art of taxidermy; you will learn all the steps the professionals use to keep a fish looking real for years to come. We will use a fish that Mr. Martin has caught. You can paint it realistically or give it a funky twist. Mr. Martin is a local favorite art teacher who has been doing taxidermy with his father since a young age. He has a great knack of getting students to see the artistic side of the unusual.
Ages 4th & up, yes even adults are welcome – think parent child or maybe you have a trophy fish you caught that you want to keep.

Printmaking Fun
We will experiment with a handful of both traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques. We will learn about and make some monoprints, relief, and block prints. We will use not only paper but fabric and other materials as well.

Adventures in Art
Children have the freedom to explore, to experience, to touch, to see to learn and to create…. Imagine a true adventure in art. Classes may include masks, sculpture, painting, printmaking, portraiture, collage, and many other different types of art media.

Painting 101
Students will learn to paint like the masters. We will use oil, acrylics and watercolors to create work like the master painters and make some of our own masterpieces.
Ages: 1st – 3rd and 4th – 6th (Two different camps with different teachers)

Painting Rocks
This class is oodles of fun. We will use a variety of techniques to create animals, people, games, a city, pretend food, and more, all out of rocks!

Star Wars
Not so long time ago in a galaxy that’s not that far away Star Wars came to the Art Attack, and is coming back! We will make light sabers as well as droids, we may even drink some Yoda soda and make some wookie mobiles.

Cost: $65 includes field trip to IMax Theater to see Star Wars: Clone Wars. We will use parent volunteers to visit the theater.
Fibers Fun
We will explore the surface of fabric using paints, dyes, block printing, jewel design and more on shirts, paints, shoes, etc. The class will provide one Shirt provided, all others brought from home

Kids Photography
Students will learn how a camera works as well as how to set up a shot and the proper lighting. We are going to take pictures of still lives, people, and natural landscapes!

Field Trip to the DeKalb Gallery to see Dan Grick’s photography on Friday the 27th 10:00 to 11:30. We will use parent volunteers to visit the Gallery.
JUNIOR/ADULT
We will focus on wheel throwing pots with some hand building too. The wheels will be available for practice outside of class* as well. We will be forming usable pots. We will also look at different clay types, glazes and techniques, various kilns and firing techniques, and any other questions or areas of interest you may have. We’ll have a lot of fun, develop our creativity and come away with a good foundation in pottery.
Instructor: Libby Bedoe, Ages 12 to adult.
*You may need to purchase extra clay to practice more on the wheel.

Decorative Wall Tiles
Learn the techniques artists use to create beautiful tiles using clay to create a fantastic tile for your walkway or yard. Fun for all ages and all levels this would be a great class for Parent and child.

"Ever since earning my ceramics badge in Girl Scouts at the age of 12, I have loved playing in the mud. I took art classes all through high school and graduated with an Associates Degree from Harper College in 1995. I mainly concentrate on handbuilt tiles, beads and jars, but recently I have shifted my focus to cloth collages with clay accents."

Painting on Location with Bob Holmes
with artist and local teacher, Bob Holmes. You can use watercolor or oils. Bob will give tips and techniques on breaking down the landscape in plein-aire to make it fun and exciting. Painting in plein-aire is one of the best ways to paint true to life paintings filled with life and light. A great class for beginners to advanced.

Session I: June 28, Sycamore Lake, painting reflections, flowers or trees. Location has porta- potties with a shelter. Bring your lunch or we are in town and can go some other place.
Session II: August 2, at a DeKalb County Barn, it will be close to town, may or may not have bathroom facilities, bring your lunch or go back to town for a break.
Photography with Roger Kyler
You can learn the basics of photography, or if you know the basics, take your photo art further. The first session, students will learn about basic camera functions and symbols that will help to create more interesting and creative photographs. We will also discuss composition and other important techniques to allow you to express your creativity through photography. The second session will consist of meeting in the field, at a place to be determined by class, and taking photos with Roger’s guidance and tips. Thirdly, we come back to the studio to view and critique. We will view and discuss what students tried to achieve with the images they created in the field and on their own. You should bring your camera and manual to all sessions. Fro the third, you should have put all images that you want to view on a CD for viewing with computer projection.

Mosaics
Beautiful designs, fun creations, with a ton of fun are exactly what you will get from doing the mosaic class. We will create on a tea tray using glass and chards of china. You should be able to take you found knowledge and create other fun projects.
Great for Parent and child.

Adult Drawing
Learn the basic of drawing fundamentals and use the study as a preparation for painting, sculpture, and other visual arts as well as a creative visual medium in its own right. Intermediate level artist can expand and practice their skills in the drawing class. Explore the creative uses of such drawing tools as pencils, charcoal, and brush and ink.

Watercolor without Lines
This class is good for people who can’t draw a straight line (or don’t want to). You will learn how water and color work with gravity and each other to make beautiful mountain landscapes. This is an exploration that’s fun and rewarding for the young and the young and heart, and would be a good parent-child class.
